The last Emperor of China was a Manchu who died in 1967. Despite an Empress, 3 concubines & a Communist wife he left no issue. In 1991, as the former monarchs of Eastern Europe surfaced to reclaim their confiscated thrones, Tony Scotland set off for China in search of the Manchu pretender. He tracked down the last Emperors widow, brothers & other survivors of the dynasty, & unmasked the heir in a mud-floored hovel near the palace of his birth. He tells the exciting story of his quest with humor & compassion, while vividly reflecting the changing China of today in the mirror of the Empires degeneration. Photos.
